An elderly man who was accused of assaulting a 12-year-old girl has now been arrested.

A video recently emerged of the suspect apparently doing up his trousers after coming out of bushes in a park on Dorchester Road, Bransholme, Hull, on Monday afternoon.

The man who filmed it claims the pensioner sexually assaulted a teenage girl who he believed was around 14-years-old.

It was suggested that she just run away from the area after emerging from the bushes with the man, who had a walking stick and a bicycle.

The man filming said he would report the elderly man to the police for his alleged crimes.

Humberside Police confirmed that a 71-year-old man has been arrested and there are now extra patrols in the area.

A police spokesman said: "We are investigating allegations of a sexual assault of a 12 year-old girl in a park on Dorchester Road in Bransholme at 4pm yesterday."

"A 71 year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident."

"We have increased the police presence in the local area and would ask that if anyone has any concerns or information that would help us with our enquiries please speak to one of our officers on the street or call the non-emergency number 101 quoting log 334 of 11/09/17."
