Cyclist Rugby-Tackles Opportunist Thief 17 SECONDS After Leaving His Bike

A cyclist had to rugby-tackle an opportunist thief to the ground just 17 seconds after leaving his bike.

The mechanic had parked his ride up outside a bike shop in Dublin when two thieves emerged and noticed the expensive bicycle standing there unattended.

One of them walks up to the bike and starts to ride away when the owner comes sprinting outside to stop him.

He jumps straight onto the thief and slams him into the ground with the pair landing on top of the bike in a heap.

They both jump up and start to brawl for a moment, before the mechanic hurries back to his bike to retrieve it from the road.

"One of our senior mechanics was very lucky to get away with about €200 worth of damage rather than losing his carbon racing bike."

"This happened in Clontarf over the weekend and we would like to urge all bike owners to lock their bikes at all times even if you are just leaving it for under a minute."
